THE NEW MILLENNIUM

By Laura Bonelli

In August it was up to the artist Alberto Positano, from Rome and in September to Loris Cecchini, one of the most affirmed artists in the international scene. For the first time a drappellone was realized by elaborating it on the computer and choosing the modern technologies of digital photography such as overlapping electronic Collage where physical reality and virtual reality dialogue.

The two palii of 2001 were both assigned to two artists who were not from Siena, the American monk John Baptist Giuliani and Silvano Campeggi, one of the most important graphic artists in the story of American cinema; the artists in 2002 Luigi Ontani and Fernando Botero and in 2003 the artists Francesco Del Casino e Andrea Rauch from Siena; then in 2004 again the artists Emanuele Luzzati and Igor Mitoraj. In 2013 both the drappelloni were assigned to local artists, Claudia Nerozzi and Cesare Olmastroni and Cecilia Rigacci.
